With the DPS600/650 and DPS800/850/860 kits as the system works off one control box you can only have the front or rear sensors on at any one time, not both together. So if your going to parallel park and reverse in as you should, then the front nose of your car will not be covered when going backwards. With these DPPK kits you can have the front and rear sensors work at the same time to solve this problem.

How It Works
The systems work by radiating ultrasonic beams covering the area behind the vehicle. The beams are reflected by obstructions behind the vehicle, and re-enter the sensors. The reflected beam information is processed to calculate the distance of the obstruction.
As with the other systems the Dolphin rear unit is activated when reverse gear is engaged. As the vehicle is reversed. When the vehicle is less than 1.5 metres from the obstruction the audible alert will emit intermittent bleeps. As the vehicle gets closer to the obstruction the frequency of the bleeps increases. At 30 centimetres from the obstruction the bleeps become a continuous solid tone.
The front sensors come with a rocker switch to manually control the front sensors which can be mounted somewhere appropriate on your dashboard or you may want to visit the parts department of your local car dealer and get a switch that matches the others on your dashboard.
For modern vehicles with CANbus electrics you can buy an Interface Module to pick up a speed reading from your cars engine management system which will switch the front sensors on when your speed drops to around 6mph or less. This CANbus Interface cost £49.99 and is compatible with these CANBus cars. |
Stage | Distance | Awareness | Alarm |
1 | 200 - 160cm | Safe Mode | No |
2 | 150 - 100cm | Safe Mode | Bi----Bi----Bi |
3 | 90 - 50cm | Alarm Mode | Bi--Bi--Bi |
4 | 40 - 30cm | Danger Mode | Bi-Bi-B |
5 | 30 - 0cm | Stop | Bi---------- |
Optional Wedges & Swap Socket Connectors
This system comes with optional angled wedges, giving greater flexibility according to the shape of your bumper. The wedges can be used if your bumper is slightly angled up - or downwards, to ensure the sensor's signal is still sent out parallel with the road's surface.
The Swap Socket connectors are watertight screw connectors 6 inches from the sensor head making initial installation easier and the replacement of sensor head should your bumper be damaged due to someone else poor driving or the unlikely event of a fault developing. This saves the cost and hassle of having to remove the bumper in order to facilitate replacement.

Maintenance
No routine maintenance or adjustment is required. Dirt, frost or snow accumulated on the sensors may cause the system to activate incorrectly. Clean carefully with a soft cloth. Do not use chemicals or spirits. Applying hot water in frozen conditions may damage the sensors. The sensors can be washed carefully with warm soapy water
